This car is an absolute Blast to drive, handles like the true sports car that it is. Very nice on the highway and rips through the corners like it’s on rails! The Turbocharged 1.6-liter 4 cylinder was factory rated at 132 horsepower and 136 lb-ft of torque and you can feel the power throughout the RPM range. Great to drive in city traffic and country roads! Draws lots of attention & Thumbs Up every time I drive it! People are always asking what it is.
This 1992 Mercury Capri XR2 Turbo convertible remained registered with its original owner in California until it was acquired by me in September 2022, and it now shows 23,562 miles. This Capri is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, a Carfax report, and a clean California title.
Finished in Cardinal Red with a Black vinyl convertible top with a plastic rear window. The 2+2 interior features reclining front bucket seats and a fold-down rear bench upholstered in patterned gray cloth. Appointments include driver’s seat adjustable lumbar support, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, a lockable glove box, and a factory premium AM/FM cassette stereo linked to an 80-watt amplifier and four speakers. The upholstery shows light fading. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, water temperature, oil pressure, and voltage.
Exterior equipment includes a rear spoiler, pop-up headlights, integrated front fog lights, and black mirror caps and door handles.
Three-spoke 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with New 225/55R15 Hankook Ventus V2 installed September 2022 . Power steering and a performance-tuned fully independent suspension came standard on the XR2, and braking is provided by four-wheel discs.
The turbocharged and intercooled 1.6-liter inline-four features electronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 132 horsepower and 136 lb-ft of torque. A coolant service and an oil change were performed by the previous owner in addition to replacing the spark plugs and ignition wires. Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle.
Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale. The Carfax report lists light damage to right front displays history with a single private owner in California.
Full Service including inspection & oil change, coolant service, new spark plugs and ignition wires were installed September 2022. New 225/55R15 Hankook Ventus V2 installed September 2022.
