1982 FORD F150 XL Styleside - Listed on Bring a Trailer

Exceptional and very original and clean Oregon truck. The Light Spruce & Wimbledon White Deluxe Tu-Tone paint appears to be mostly original except for the tailgate that has been re-sprayed. The XL trim interior is finished in Spruce with the bench seat being covered in factory like vinyl material and matching color coded carpet texture rubber floor mat. Dash is padded, instrument panel, radio and heater controls are highlighted with woodtone applique. Features include power steering and brakes, AM radio, low mount trailer mirrors, dual fuel tanks, rear step bumper with trailer hitch, sliding rear window & vinyl headliner.

I purchased the truck from the owner of a German Auto Repair shop that was going to downsize from his newer 4X4 F350 but decided he needed to keep the newer truck for trailer towing etc.

The story, as it was told to me by the gentleman I purchased it from, was that the trucks presumed first owner was a school bus company in Philomath that kept it for many years. While with that owner the truck was stored under cover and used as a service rig when buses broke down or whatever, thus the low mileage.  If I remember correctly the seller told me that the Son of the owner had it for a time after the bus company closed or changed hands, then the fella he got it from bought it.

According to the clean CARFAX history the truck was sold new in January of 1982. The next reported Title Change / new owner was November 2001 January 2008 shows that the owner moved. In august of 2011 DMV records show a New owner in the Philomath area. In October of 2013 ownership changed and this owner kept the truck until sold October 2019 to the person I bought it from.

Following the CARFAX REPORT it is likely that the School Bus company retained the truck for many years. The first owner change was possibly from the owner of bus company to the company name or the other way around. The truck was reportedly sold to owner’s son so that is more than likely the 3rd report of new owner with Oregon DMV but keeping truck in the same family. In October 2013 title was changed to new owner who kept truck until October 2019 when it was sold to the person I bought it from in February 2020.

Doesn't appear to have any rust issues other than some surface rust in bed where it had been scratched / scraped in use. There is also light corrosion in the engine bay on brake master cylinder, wiper motor, hood hinge springs, battery trays, factory jack mounted in engine bay and on the air cleaner cover. I believe a good strong detail would alleviate those issues. Floor boards, undercarriage, misc hardware show very light surface rust but nothing major anywhere. Very solid from top of truck to floor boards, suspension and everything in between.

There are no runability or driving issues at all. There are the usual rock chips and light scratches and light scrapes you would expect on a vehicle of this age as shown in detailed photos. Leading edge of rt front fender had small dent and scratches. some scratches and light corrosion on some of the bright work and trim pieces, one of the bed tie downs.

Interior door panels show some scratches, fading and wear, drivers side armrest / door pull is split (photos) and there is a small split in drivers side seat backrest.

The truck was reportedly serviced very regularly by Original owner and the subsequent owners but I have no receipts.

The gentleman I purchased truck from performed the following services less than 1,000 miles ago:

1.      New windshield installed.

2.      New American Racing OUTLAW II Cast Aluminum wheels with new ATTURO TRAIL BLADE 235/75/R15 tires with 3119 date code.

3.      Brake service,All fluids changed as needed including new oil & filter.

4.      Full tune-up using all Genuine Ford Motorcraft parts - Ignition, plug wires, spark plugs, distributor cap, PCV valve, air filter & fuel pump.

5.      All hoses inspected and replaced as needed.

6.      Carburetor rebuilt, fuel system checked & cleaned. Fuel Gauge only works on front tank but both fuel tanks operate correctly.

Tailgate was painted at some point and shows cracks in the paint below latch release. Otherwise paint looks very original with some rock chips and scratches.
